Daphne/Spurge Laurel
Daphne laureola
Paper
The species of daphne that is widespread on coast salish lands is closely related to the plant traditionally and currently used in Nepal to produce paper.
Caution: Daphne sap can irritate skin. If you are breaking it down, gloves should be worn. It also has a strong unpleasant smell, I recommend processing this plant outdoors with a mask on. Once the plant has dried and especially after it's been boiled it doesn't cause skin irritation.
