Basketry

When green, holly branches are incredibly flexible and can be molded to dry in almost any shape. They work well as strong spokes for baskets.

Carving

Holly wood can be used for carving. The wood is dense and fine grained making it suited for detailed work. It has a very light, almost ivory colour that is beautiful. Holly isn't safe for consumption so is probably best not to use for food serving carvings like spoons or bowls.

I use holly branches to make wreath bases using techniques based on willow wreath bases.
